Chopper Spins Out of Control into Palm Trees at Popular California Beach
A helicopter flying above a popular California beach suddenly began spiraling uncontrollably, finally descending rapidly and plunging into a row of palm trees as beachgoers observed.
Videos posted online depict the chopper starting to spin near Huntington Beach then falling in the direction of the border of the coast, where it becomes wedged between palm trees and a set of stairs near the coastal road.
Rescue Operation Update
Emergency responders said five individuals were rushed to the hospital including two individuals who were in the chopper and were “extracted safely from the crash site” following the crash on that day.
Three individuals on the street were hurt. Information on their condition were not immediately available.
The reason for the accident was still under investigation.
Planned Function
The department said the aircraft was associated with an annual “Cars N Copters” benefit occasion set for Sunday.
